Nathan Smith is the owner of Small Person Music, a small music company with that, among other things, records, produces, distributes and performs music in developing countries. Over the past 5 years Nathan has played concerts in parts of Brazil, Bosnia and Serbia; offering joy, hope and encouragement in regions of economic and social struggle. The concerts as well as the music (CD's) are always free to the public and are often done in an outdoor venue. Theses concerts are often the largest, most exciting public event of its kind in the regions where Nathan travels. In places like Bosnia, where areas are experiencing as much as 60% unemployment, a big stage, lights and rock 'n roll can just 'soothe the soul'.
Nathan has recorded two CD's that are always given away at these concerts. As a Christian, Nathan sings and writes positive, uplifting music that always has a message of faith, hope and love. Each recording project is an adventure of its own because financing for such endeavors is not always easily found. Nathan is currently working on a third CD to be finished before the upcoming Eastern European Tour 'HOPE '08'. Unprecedented opportunities in Austria, Bosnia and Croatia are opening up and they are needing to have the recording done and in hand to distribute these products while on tour. Currently Nathan has invitations to go to Uganda, East Africa, Mexico and Brazil. It is likely that he will not be able to go to all of these places this year. But, the music can.
This third recording project to be entitled 'Uniquely Me, Completely Yours' is also an amazing opportunity to bless and help a dear friend to Nathan and Small Person Music. Small Person Music was birthed during a very difficult season for Nathan and his family in 2003. With no job and no sure direction a dear friend offered to record and produce at his home studio Nathan's first CD so that this vision could begin to be fulfilled. This is a ministry and humanitarian outreach of hope that would be called Small Person Music. After some time this friend shut his studio down to pursue other things. As Nathan called to tell him of the beginning of the third project, he was delighted to hear that this friend is rebuilding the studio that helped Nathan get his start. So now, the money going toward the studio time and production costs for this third project, will go to help rebuild the dream of a friend who years ago helped Nathan build his dream.
